Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT is thrilled to partner with the Ensemble Theater in Houston, TX to stream a filmed performance of Celeste Jennings world premiere play ‘Bov Water. In advance of this streaming performance, Northern Stage playwright Celeste Jennings and director abigail jean-baptiste will join the Ensemble’s Artistic Director Eileen Morris and actor/playwright Crystal Rae in a conversation about new plays by Black women creators, moderated by Carol Dunne, Producing Artistic Director at Northern Stage. This hybrid event will take place live in-person at the Howe Library and over zoom to bring audiences from the Upper Valley and Houston together in dialogue.

About 'Bov Water:
In this powerful world premiere play by Dartmouth alumnae Celeste Jennings (Citrus), four generations of Black women breathe and bathe in a past that’s both intentionally and accidentally forgotten. Challenging and discovering their own narratives from the Civil War to the 1960s to modern-day America, these strong and inquisitive souls wrestle to unearth a family’s past and build resilience for the future. ‘Bov Water is a touching, vital, and intensely human poetic journey that aims to answer how do you define yourself if you don’t know your family’s history?
