Explaining Eclipses Through Culture

Explaining Eclipses Through Culture In-Person

Long before humankind had scientific explanations for eclipses, we explained their existence through a wide variety of tales. In these tales, the sun and the moon would take on the roles of brother and sister, husband and wife, attacker and victim, or even, competitors. Their stories are dynamic, entertaining, and at times, gruesome! In celebration of our upcoming solar eclipse, join our Teen Librarian, Kim Baker, in a storytelling event as she shares these tales.

Attendees to this program will receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses so they’ll be prepared for the eclipse on April 8th!

This program is intended for Teens (ages 12-19) and older tweens (9-12) - adults are welcome but parents should be advised that some of the stories may be too gruesome for younger children.

Please register to attend so we can anticipate how many glasses we will need.
