Sherlock Holmes Club of the Upper Valley: The Adventure of the Three Gables

Sherlock Holmes Club of the Upper Valley: The Adventure of the Three Gables In-Person

On April 11 at 5:00 PM, there will be a presentation on the Sherlock Holmes story The Adventure of the Three Gables. This is one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s last stories, and it was published in 1926 in The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes. Participants should be familiar with the plot of The Three Gables prior to attending. This story contains arguably the most powerful female character in the entire Sherlock Holmes canon. Subjects such as the role of women in early 1900s English society will be discussed, as well as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s depiction of black characters not only in The Three Gables, but in The Yellow Face and J. Habakuk Jephson’s Statement as well.

The talk will be presented by Anna Behrens, MA, CCC-SLP, author of numerous articles on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the Sherlock Holmes Canon. Anna is also the leader of a Keene, NH based Sherlock Holmes Society.

Email Jared Jenisch at jared.jenisch@thehowe.org for the Zoom invitation.  No registration required in person.
