Shakespeare Unrehearsed Film Screening: Much Ado About Nothing In-Person
Shakespeare Unrehearsed meets monthly by Zoom to read through Shakespeare's plays. This year we will also be screening films of each play before we read them. Come join us for this showing of Much Ado About Nothing and then join us in February, March, and Apri to read through it together! Popcorn will be served!
We will be watching the 1993 film directed by Kenneth Branagh, starring Branagh, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, and Keanu Reeves.
The New York Times wrote: Kenneth Branagh "has taken a Shakespearean romantic comedy, the sort of thing that usually turns to mush on the screen, and made a movie that is triumphantly romantic, comic and, most surprising of all, emotionally alive. The Branagh "Much Ado About Nothing" is a dreamlike house party set in and around a magnificent Tuscan villa in the erotic heat of an Italian summer. ... Time stops. Life becomes a pursuit of pleasure: eating, drinking, dancing, making love."
