Sherlock Holmes Club of the Upper Valley: The Adventure of the Crooked Man, with Gary D. Johnson In-Person
Our speaker this month will be Gary D. Johnson, Dartmouth Professor Emeritus. He will be discussing and dissecting "The Adventure of the Crooked Man." He will address how the mystery is solved as usual, but how the evidence has a long, convoluted, and perhaps even tortuous and "crooked back" story. He will talk about how India, its traditions, its geography, and its colonial history play a part in the story, with the British fascination with the subcontinent playing out in this missive. A key clue in the story is the Indian Rupee. Several Victorian era Rupees from the British Raj will be available for examination.
