Music In the Library: The Occasional Jug Band In-Person

Join us in the New Books area for music with The Occasional Jug Band!

The Occasional Jug Band came together when three friends found that they had an interest in exploring and reviving the music of the rural jug bands of the 1920s and 30s.  Not to be confined to one style though, the Occasional Jug Band mixes it up to deliver eclectic sets with not only jug band classics, but also traditional American roots music, fiddle tunes, blues, classic country, and a few Cajun tunes for added spice. Of course, the group incorporates home-made jug band instruments such the washboard, kazoo, and the jug itself, which are typical of the jug band style and lots of fun!

The Occasional Jug Band is… Mary Jo Slattery (vocals, guitar, ukulele, and washboard), Andy Stewart (fiddle and harmonica) and Joseph Stallsmith (vocals, 4 string banjo, ukulele, guitar, and kazoo/jug).  These versatile musicians bring their high enthusiasm and years of professional musical performance to have audiences singing along and dancing in the aisles.

This performances is free and open to all and does not require registration.
