Discover Greenland In-Person / Online
Come join us for presentation on the landscape, culture, and history of Greenland, as well as an introduction to the Inuit people who live on the largest island in the world. This program will be hybrid: attend in person in the Mayer Room or register here for the Zoom invitation.
We at The Greenland Advocate have developed a comprehensive website, greenlandadvocate.com, to inform people about the country, its people, and its future, so a wider audience can be more informed about this rich and vast island. The Arctic and Antarctic are warming at a much more rapid rate than the rest of the world and those changes are affecting Greenland‘s environment and the world significantly.
Greg Smith is a photographer, writer, and traveler. Curiosity has taken him to the mountains of Lesotho, the enclave of Gaza, the Navajo Reservation for five years and to every continent in the wide world. He has experienced the strife of people living under the influence of militarism, poverty, and even for some, a real sense of hope to rise above their circumstances and reach freedom and self-identity. But the road has been spectacular, too. He has been privileged to tour Antarctica, the depths of the Grand Canyon and the mountains of Southern Africa. Today, his time and energy are spent learning more about the fascinating and spectacular country of Greenland. He is enthralled by the Inuit people who pioneered this massive island. He is inspired by their past, present and future and is enthusiastic about sharing this mysterious land with people everywhere.
