Sherlock Holmes Club of the Upper Valley: The Real Faces and Places of the Valley of Fear In-Person
Our speaker this month will be Anna Behrens who is the Leader of the Monadnock Sherlockians based in Keene, NH, and a member of the Speckled Band of Boston. She will be discussing The Valley of Fear, the last Sherlock Holmes novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. She will talk about the intriguing locked room mystery and its surprise ending, and how the story is based on real events and real people from the coal mining towns of Eastern Pennsylvania where the Irish coal mining group, the Molly Maguires, were infiltrated by a Pinkerton agent due to their conflicts with the owners of their local coal mines.
