SUMMARY:Investigative Genetic Genealogy and the DNA Doe Project: A Crash Course
DESCRIPTION:Investigative genetic genealogy is an emerging technique that
is helping solve cold cases and restore identities to unidentified
individuals. Join us at Howe Library on Tuesday\, July 7th at 6:30 PM for a
fascinating presentation by Chelsea Hanrahan\, volunteer investigative
genetic genealogist with the DNA Doe Project. Hanrahan will explain how
genealogists use DNA research to assist law enforcement\, share real-life
case examples\, and discuss ways the public can contribute to this
important work.\n\nSince 2021\, Hanrahan has combined her lifelong
interests in genealogy and true crime through her work in investigative
genetic genealogy. In addition to volunteering with the DNA Doe Project\,
she serves as a researcher for the New England-based podcast Murder\, She
Told and works with the F.A.I.R. Lab at the University of New Hampshire to
support forensic anthropology research and public education efforts
surrounding genetic genealogy.\n\nThis is a hybrid event. To attend via
Zoom register here or at the link below.\n\nIf you have any questions about
 the program\, email mike.morris@thehowe.org for more information.\n\n
